Rose hips are used for herbal teas, jam, jelly, syrup, beverages, pies, bread, wine, and marmalade and are sometimes used for home fragrance or even primitive crafts. They are naturally sweet and tart, offering a delicately floral, refreshing taste along with valuable nutrients our bodies need like antioxidants (Vitamins C, E, carotenoids, phenols). Rose hips also contain triterpenes that help to reduce inflammation*. While the seeds are edible, they have hairs that some people may be sensitive to; therefore, it is recommended that the seeds be removed prior to consuming. Removed seeds can be stratified and germinated to be grown into rose bushes!
