Genmaicha is amazing! It has a delicate, buttery flavor, with a pale yellow-green liquor. This Japanese green tea is mixed with roasted popped brown rice (genmai). It is also known to be called "popcorn tea" because the sound of roasting rice sounds similar to sound when making popcorn.
Genmaicha is often popular with older people, as it is "milder" than most steamed green tea and easier for the stomach, and also has less caffeine than many green tea options. Frequently, this tea is enjoyed after fasting or after a long period of not eating food, as it is well tolerated.
The brown rice is a high-quality Japanese sticky rice, adding delicious taste that is combined with our organic Sencha for a truly delicious tea experience.
The exceptional tea can be infused up to 3x. Strain leaves and rice. For each additional brew, add one minute steep time. Even though the tea is traditionally strained, we love the taste of the toasted rice and often allow the rice to remain.
